Privacy policy
Last updated 8 November 2026
This policy explains what personal information Monami collects, why, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Jose Galvez, Birger Jarlsgatan 57 C, 113 56 Stockholm, Sweden, which is responsible for your information (the "controller"). Contact: oneguatemalan@gmail.com.
Short version: you can browse without giving us anything. We only collect what you choose to send, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.
Browsing the site
- You don't need an account to browse the calendar, brands or filters.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for a short time to run and protect the site.
- We remember your light or dark mode choice and the pieces you save (the heart) in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us.
- To show prices in your currency, we keep two small functional cookies: your country, taken from your connection by our hosting provider (country code only, 30 days), your currency if you choose one (1 year), and the currency your browser picked for you so price filters match it (30 days). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- If we add privacy-friendly visitor statistics, we'll use a tool that doesn't track you across sites, and we'll update this policy first.
Suggesting a brand
When you use the "Suggest a brand" form we store:
- the brand's website and your optional note;
- your email address, only if you give it, to tell you when the brand is added;
- a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address and browser (not the IP address itself), used only to count one vote per person and to stop spam.
Why: to review suggestions and prevent abuse (our legitimate interest) and, if you gave your email, to reply to you (your consent). We keep suggestions while they're useful for running the site; you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Accounts and the weekly email (when available)
If you sign up for our Friday email or create an account, we store:
- your email address;
- the brands you follow and the views you save (for example "Japanese brands, knitwear"), and your time zone, to send the right email at the right time;
- whether you opened an email and which links you clicked, to improve what we send. You can turn this off in your email app.
We only send the weekly email after you confirm your address. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Your preferences are used only to personalize your email and the site; if we suggest a focus based on what you look at, nothing changes unless you choose it.
Why: to provide the service you asked for (contract) and with your consent for the email, which you can withdraw at any time.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't share it with brands or advertisers.
- We don't use it for automated decisions with legal or similar effects on you.
Who processes data for us
We use a small number of trusted providers, under contracts that require them to protect your information:
- Supabase: database and image storage (United States);
- Vercel: website hosting (global network);
- GitHub: runs our daily brand checks; it doesn't receive visitor data;
- an email delivery provider for the weekly email (planned: Resend).
Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU and UK GDPR or California law), you can:
- see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct it or ask us to delete it;
- object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email oneguatemalan@gmail.com. We'll reply within one month.
Security
We protect your information with access controls and encryption in transit. Our private keys are only on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there's less to protect.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We'll update this policy when what we collect changes. The date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes will be announced.
